Privacy Policy

Who we are. Commonly is run by A3 Direct Solutions LLP, which is responsible for your data. Write to support@getcommonly.com about anything on this page.

What we store. Your email and an account ID, your first name, the names you type, your Load Check answers, the items, dates, lists and notes you add, the thank-yous you send, the photos you add to wishes (made smaller on your phone, without location data), your settings, and whether you have Commonly Pro (the App Store transaction, not your card). If you turn on notifications, we keep your phone’s notification token to reach it; signing out removes it.

Why. Only to run Commonly for you and the person you pair with: keeping your space in sync, sending the notifications you chose, signing you in and knowing whether Pro is on.

Who sees it. Only you and the partner you pair with. Load Check answers and the question of the day stay sealed until you have both answered. Share cards hide names by default.

What we don’t do. No ads, no selling or renting data, no tracking across apps or websites. Links you save to wishes are stored as text; we don’t fetch them. Notifications never show what either of you wrote.

Voice and AI

Voice. Voice capture and voice thank-yous are off until you turn them on. When you speak, your iPhone turns it into text on the phone itself; the audio is never recorded, stored or sent to us or anyone else. You see the text and choose what to save or send.

Weekly summary draft and gift ideas. If you turn on the weekly summary draft, or ask for gift ideas, we send the few words needed for that (your first names and the titles of the week’s items, your partner’s only if they turned the draft on too; or that person’s name, the occasion and what they like) to Anthropic’s Claude to write a suggestion, which you can change or ignore. The app asks before the first gift ideas are sent. Anthropic processes it for us and does not use it to train its models. Nothing is sent while these are off or until you ask.

Services we use

  • Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and push notifications.
  • Vultr: the servers where our database runs.
  • RevenueCat: a copy of your App Store purchases, with your account ID, for our subscription records.
  • Resend: sends the sign-in codes you ask for by email.
  • Anthropic: only for the AI features above, when you use them.

Each receives only what its job needs and processes it on our behalf. Some are in the United States or other countries; they protect the data under their own data-processing terms.

Your choices

Stop sharing and deletion. You can stop sharing, or delete your account and data, in the app (Settings → Privacy and visibility). Deleting removes your account, profile and answers from our database right away; a space you shared stays with the other person, without your profile. It also revokes Sign in with Apple and removes your purchase records at RevenueCat. Deleting does not cancel an App Store subscription: cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings.

Your rights. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the LGPD or California law), you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how it is used. Write to support@getcommonly.com and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

How long we keep it. For as long as your account exists. When you delete it, it is gone from our database.

Children. Commonly is for adults who share a home and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes. If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app or on this page before it applies.
